Is there no PPA to install Gimp Paint Studio?

I would want to be able to continue using GIMP 2.8 *without* Paint Studio:

selectively run one or the other at my discretion

(each with access to G'MIC plugin platform array)

Anyway, great thanks for the job you've done! I like GIMP very much, so I feel so much better when folks make some improvements (I can't , sorry). I always advocate GIMP and recommend it over the proprietary PhotoShop (and most of the folks can actually do well with what GIMP offers).

just fyi on ubuntu 10.10 (and maybe other versions) the .gimp-2.6 folder is hidden. You have to go to view then click "Show Hidden Files" (or Ctl-H)

This is great. I'm an illustration and concept art student who does digital painting in Linux. I refuse to use proprietary software for my art, especially for the CC licensed work I aim to create, so every piece of code that makes GIMP a better drawing and painting tool is of tremendous use to me.

Umm, you could try using your package manager to find the utility that handles .rar files like I did? It's a wild notion but it might just work...

.rar is a proprietary file format. Why in heaven's name would you use that with Open Source software????? I have no way to open such a file.

It's just a bunch of brushes for gimp and config files such as window layouts and docked dialogs to optimize it for drawing and painting.

Basic list of differences from original project, (bulletpointed would bye nice) at the begining of post would clarify this.
